Known scientifically as Solidago altissima, the Tall Goldenrod is the South Carolina state wildflower. It can be found along roadsides, in the middle of fields, in flower beds, and among the background logo of this page. Hardy Solidago blooms in the Fall. Solidago is part of the sunflower family, can grow up to six feet tall, and smells faintly like licorice. It symbolizes brightness, warmth, peace, and hope. Solidago is used to celebrate good news and new ventures.
Solidago is of Latin origin and loosely translates as “to make whole." It has been used medicinally by some cultures to treat allergies, inflammation, depression, and other ailments.
As a South Carolina native, Attorney Cassandra L. Hutchens (Cassie) chose Solidago as the name for her firm to celebrate her own new venture! It is also meant to represent her commitment to her home state and dedication to clients who are struggling through legal issues. Hence, Solidago Legal, LLC strives to live up to its name with compassionate and dedicated legal advocacy.
Raised in Lexington, SC, Cassie relocated to Charleston in 2010. Though Cassie has settled in the lowcountry, she spends as much time as possible with family and friends in her hometown.
After earning her Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology from Columbia College, Cassie attended the Charleston School of Law, where she worked as a law library research assistant, served as President of Women in Law, and became founder of the "Miss" Charleston Law Pageant. After law school, Cassie worked with a small Charleston-area firm focusing in the areas of probate and family law prior to opening her own firm in 2022.
Cassie spends her free time on epic family camping trips, absorbing Atlanta Braves games with her besties, and watching British crime dramas while snuggling with Phoebe-girl (pictured).
